you know what people don’t talk about
"I stood in front of the monitors watching 75 women stand in a circle, dancing and yelling while two women humped each other. Taylor Schilling, who plays Piper on the show, had hung around to watch the chaos. She leaned over to me during a take and said, “When have you ever seen this many women on screen together?” In that moment I realized we were doing something really special.” (x)
Why aren’t we doing this in all 50 states??
moving to Iowa
is there a way to petition for this to be a required class for graduating in all 50 states???
I think this is a great idea but honestly it should be required for everyone. I dont want to be that “not all men” person but even as a woman I really feel like only requiring men to take this class will send a weird and disturbing message about how society views them at a relatively young age. It also reinforces the idea that only men can be rapists which in turn feeds into the power structure that feminism is working to level out. And many women also play a part in the perpetuating of rape culture due to a lack of understanding and a lot of internalized misogyny towards one another. I don’t see any reason why this class WOULDN’T benefit young women as well as men, so even though the overwhelming majority of sexual crimes are acted against women, I think that this class shouldn’t be exclusive to young men.
yes. Just. Yes

Whenever your faith in people is lost, remember these pictures.
This needs more notes. 37k is not enough
this is a post that deserves to be broken. One day I would like nothing more than too see this has too many notes.
People are still good. For some reason the negativity is all we pay attention to, but there are still good things happening in the world. We just need to be reminded of that once in a while.
Seeing a tumblr URL that is almost completely like yours.
You know what? I’m pretty smart
I should be on the…………..
Your Zuko costume’s pretty good, but your scar’s on the wrong side.
Tumblr-user thehiddentriforce will forever carry dishonor with them.
For everyone who completely missed it, allow me to be less subtle:
who’s the one carrying eternal dishonour now?
Lavoisier is having none of your shit.
Heeeey so fun fact: the woman in that painting is Lavoisier’s wife, Marie-Anne Pierrette Paulze, who not only acted as Lavoisier’s lab assistant but also translated English and Latin texts into French so he could read them. But she didn’t just translate, she pointed out errors in the chemistry in some of the texts. Her observations of these errors convinced Lavoisier to study combustion, which led to his discovery of oxygen. She was also critical to the publication of Lavoisier’s Elementary Treatise on Chemistry in 1789. She kept strict records of every experiment they conducted together and drew detailed diagrams of all their equipment. She also threw amazing parties and invited all the brightest minds in science so her husband could pick their brains. After Lavoisier was guillotined she secured all of his notebooks and equipment for posterity.
In short: NOBODY KICKS MADAME LAVOISIER OUT OF THE LAB.
Also, a side note: My historian husband-to-be pointed some things out to me about this painting. Notice that Madame Lavoisier is looking at the viewer, and all the light is on her, while Lavoisier himself is physically smaller than her, in shadow, and looking up to her in reverence. This isn’t a candid photograph- all of these choices are deliberate. The painting isn’t of Lavoisier- Madame Lavoisier is meant to be the central subject.
I can just imagine Lavoisier telling all his colleagues that his wife is really the one with all the clever ideas, and them patting him on the back and telling him he’s sweet for saying so.
Rebloggin’ for the fantastic commentary and the edit :)
